man u must have the original xbox 360 to be a real playa. that black piece of crap is the same except its diffrent colors if you ask me the original is elite.

well in my opinion xbox elites are just the same but with more memory soo even though i go one just for a back up 360 i cant say they are much too different
I got an Elite just for Halo 3. I love it and haven't had any problems yet. I think its a perfect combo because of the 120 gig hard drive goes great with H3's new saved film feature.
I currently have the Premium with the 20 GB HDD. Haven't really had any problems yet, but the Ring of Death may still occur.
If you don't have a 360 yet, I would recommend getting the Elite. The main reason isn't because it's a different color or because it has a 120 GB HDD. It's because they are prone to getting the Ring of Death. They have a bigger and better heatsink than the Premium. So far, there hasn't been a single report of one getting the Ring of Death.
