CoD4 - leveling up in Prestige

Firstly, I was all ready to prestige up last night...was 514 exp away from hitting level 55, made it only to realise i have to level up AGAIN to unlock it! So thats another ~4500 exp to get. My question for those who have done it is:

does it take the same amount of exp to level up in prestige as it does normally? i.e to go from level 1 to 2 non prestige takes about 300 exp. when i go from 1 to 2 in first prestige, will it also take ~300 or will it take ~5000?

peace out y'all

I haven't gotten there yet, but from what I've read you level up the same as if you just started out. It only seems like you're leveling up faster because you (should be) a better player.

It takes exactly the same on each level in Prestige but the thing is that you lose eall of your weapons and achievments because you go back to level one again so if you are asking me prestige mode is pointless, just spend time getting red tiger camo and gold camo way more impressive

Im on my 4th prestige i think and yeah to tell you the truth there is only one real reason that a person maybe needs to prestige... and that is when i hit 55 for the first time i had one gun that i like to use..... now that ive done it 4x ive actually began to have a better feel for all different types of weapons... besides learning the weapons inside and out... all it is is a cosmetic thing.. just looks man.

===================================
The first and last thing they witnessed was the overwhelming power of the DIRK's.

Yeah, in retrospect, I'd rather not have prestiged. It's just a shiny badge. All prestiging does is reset everything back, like starting the game all over. You prestige, then you are back to level one, no custom classes, nothing unlocked, and go from there, just like you did the last time. Prestige doesn't necissarily mean you are any good, just that you've played a lot.

If you think you might want to prestige then i say do it staright away as it saves time, but yes it is slighly pointless
