Hi, I'm
JackChappers posting via
CowboyCatsNews - our community information Gamertag.
Im going to be honest. I think all gamers encounter at least
one of these situations at some point:
1. Frustrated that the rest of your team are running around aimlessly - instead you'd like them to at least try to work as a team, not a group of wandering animals released into a multiplayer arena.
2. Wishing there were an extra 5 or 6 friends online who could join you and make your game epic. Maybe then you could fill that Blackhawk helicopter or score that extra goal.
3. Realising that it would be good to have someone else with similar gaming interests, or someone who has already done that achievement you're trying so hard for, and could show you how they did it.
If this sounds familiar,
Cowboy Cats is for you.
Cowboy Cats is an Xbox 360 Community based in the UK. It was founded by
chapmansam and myself and originally based around Halo 3. Since then we've branched into different games, mainly FPS but with more members we hope to broaden our range of games into other genres such as Sport, Driving, and Music.
"Get to the point!" I hear you say. I do ramble on:
- We aim to connect gamers
- We hold regular, scheduled games throughout the week to give everyone a chance to attend at some point, after all we do have lives outside gaming…yes? :D
- We also host bi-weekly challenges, tournaments and other cool stuff.
- The important bit - our current games are
Halo 3, Halo 3:ODST, Battlefield 1943, Gears of War 2, Battlefield 1943, Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, however these are subject to change soon to keep up with the popularity of certain games.
- Casual gamers, competitive edge. We all share the idea that games should be
fun. Play, chat, and get the most out of your games.
- Standard rules. Proper respectful conduct. Play Nice.
- Age limit is 16+ -
NO Rank, Gamerscore or K/D requirements, no changing your Gamertag, just a sense of humour and the ability to talk and work as a team.
I'm gonna cut this short, as I could go on all night...
We currently have only a few members, and for the last few months it has been a struggle as an admin to almost single handedly manage the website, twitter, graphic design, organise games etc.
I know that with just a couple more people in support, Cowboy Cats could work really, really well - most things are set up already! Roster, Schedule, Challenges…all there! They just need a little maintenance to keep them ticking over, something which I just can't manage all on my own.
I'm not just advertising for members here, I'm looking for
leaders/developers to join me on the
Lead Team.
- Our official website -
Cowboy Cats Central - is always in need of a few touches, a change of banner every once in a while, front page updates, match scheduling - all
small jobs if you can do this kind of thing.
- With more members, we would need a Forum on the website (simple to do, but just needs a little help from a Moderator here and there)
- At some point I would love to introduce prizes for tournaments etc. - I'm not exactly sure how this would work, maybe it's naive of me, but I know it can be done. I just need a small team of people to take it forward :)
These are just examples of where
you could help. The bottom line is, Cowboy Cats is ready to develop as a community, it just needs more members and some help from talented people - I know you're there!
If you are interested, please comment below, PM or email
leadteam@cowboycats.co.uk. Alternatively, msg us on XBL! - GT:
JackChappers or
chapmansam.
I've gone on too long haven't I…
Any questions?
Before you ask, yes the name 'Cowboy Cats' came from the legendary pairing of a Cat and a Cowboy hat into a Halo 3 emblem. Its paints a slightly funnier picture than '40mmClan' or 'LoneSnipers', don't you think?
