Call of Duty 4 Online Multi-Player Guide

Call of Duty 4 Online Multi-Player Guide

Contents -

1. Introduction
2. Unlockable Features
3. Classes
4. Weapons
5. Perks
6. Maps
7. Modes
8. Rank/XP Table
9. Prestige

* Introduction

I've compiled this Guide as a comprehensive source of information for the xbox Live online Multi-Player in Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat. Credit goes to xCHEFSx, Dr Cro, and jagriff333 for their work, with much Thanks to fourzerotwo and IW for a great game with unsurpassable product support.

Online MP for CoD4 has an interesting (if not complicated) Rank system. Initially, a player is very limited in which Classes they may use and which Modes (gametypes) they can play, BUT this is quickly overcome by playing a few matches. (if you are reasonably good at shooters you may go up 2 or more ranks in your first game!) Browse the guide below for details. (most numbers in this guide refer to the Rank needed to unlock the associated feature/weapon/perk/ect.) Rank is determined by Experience Points (XP), which are earned through performance in play.

Challenges add another dimension to the online play. Challenges are unlocked, in parts, beginning at Rank 5. They mark accomplishments like X kills or headshots with a specific weapon, unusual kills (and deaths), and so on. Completing Challenges rewards XP and may unlock weapon attachments or camo. There are different sets of Challenges- they are: Assault, SMG, LMG, SG, Sniper, Bootcamp, Operations, Killer, Humiliation, and Elite.

COD4 may NOT be played with more then one account on a box at a time, nor with guests- NO guests on Live in COD4, sorry. You can play local split-screen MP.(and LAN, I think.) There is no co-op mode through the SP campaign, online or otherwise.

* UNLOCKABLE FEATURES
Demolitions Class 2
Sniper Class 3
Create-A-Class 4
Challenges 5
Clan Tag 12
Prestige Mode 55

* CLASSES

Default Classes:
Assault - M16 w/GL, M9, Stun x1, Stopping Power, Extreme Conditioning
Spec Ops - MP5, USP.45 w/Silencer, Flash x1, C4, Sonic Boom, Steady Aim
Light Machine Gunner - M249 SAW, USP.45, Stun x3, Juggernaut, Deep Impact
Demolitions - W1200, M9, Smoke x1, RPG, Sonic Boom, Extreme Conditioning
Sniper - M40A3, M9 w/Silencer, Flash x3, Stopping Power, Deep Impact

Custom Classes are available at Rank 4 and allow you to mix-and-match (almost) any combination of weapon, attachment, camo, and perks. There are 5 custom slots available to hold your configs. The primary weapon and selected Camo Pattern determine your figures appearance. (if you want a gilly suit you have to have a SR as a primary weapon.) The various camos can make a difference depending on the map.

So where do you go after 55 gets boring? Into Prestige mode! IF you choose, you may reset your Rank and begin again at 1. You lose *everything* but lifetime stats like total Kills, total headshots, total XP, K/D ratio, time played, and a few others. All weapons, attachments, gold guns, camo, and so on are lost.(until you unlock them again.) In return, you get a cool symbol next to your name in the lobby; and a renewed challenge. You can enter Prestige mode 10 times, earning a different badge for each level of Prestige you achieve.

I've seen quite a bit of people that are in prestige mode. Some on level 2 or 3 I think. They must be playing it 25/7

I'm still on rank 43 on level 1

The only reason for going into prestige is to show off!

Don't unless you want to do it 7 times and get the golden cross which makes you look 1337

The cool thing is that when you first start you still are weak in areas. After you prestige you gain a little backbone with guns that you wouldnt otherwise play with. Yeah the Gold cross is something to show off but think about this you worked for it right. The more you work different guns the better you will become with your accuracy and kill to death ratio...
Just a few thoughts
