I have one as well. Even if you get it just for the headset, the purchase is worthwhile. It's a lot louder and more crisp then the standard wired headset.
It's also nice if you do use the chat feature, it has one-button access that brings up the chat window right on your screen so you can see the last few lines of the conversation as you reply, and then you just push the button again and it goes away, so you can use it if you have a few seconds of downtime in the game instead of navigating the Xbox Guide to do so.
It does make it a little heavier, but I have bigger hands so it actually makes the controller more comfortable for me (My roommate doesn't like it, but she has small hands)
It's also rather sturdy, I've lost count of the number of times it's been dropped and keeps on tickin'
